Bangers
- Chassis
- Must be alloy with a maximum of 3mm thickness. (no carbon or GRP chassis’)
- Countersunk chassis and screw sets are permitted.
- Limousine chassis must be made of alloy with a maximum of 3mm thickness. The maximum length of a limousine chassis and shell is 2.5 feet.
- There must not be any sharp edges or corners on the chassis.
- No extension plates, front or rear.
- No extra plates to be added to the chassis.
- Top decks
- Original Mardave alloy or any other GRP top may be used. Kamtec or Large it top plates are recommended.
- Top plates must have a maximum thickness of 3mm.
- Any top plate used must not protrude any further forward than in line with the steering servo saver.
- The width of the top plate should not extend past the centreline of the wheels.
- No double decks.
- Batteries
- Only 4 cell NiCad or NiMah batteries are permitted.
- Maximum of 5000Mah for heats and finals.
- Maximum of 3700Mah for Destruction derby.
- Only plastic or nylon battery retainers are permitted.
- Speed controllers
- Mardave/large it/Tamiya mechanical and resistor type speed controllers.
- Electronic speed controllers (ESC) may be used.
- Gears, Motors and Axle
- 32dp pinion gears only, minimum 12 teeth, maximum 18 teeth.
- Only spur gears to be used are 50, 48, 46 tooth.
- Gear sleeves/clips are allowed on the gear arms.
- Derlin gears or Z drives are not permitted.
- Standard Mardave or TIC axle must be used.
- Metal bearings may only be used on the rear axle.
- Motor pods must be made of plastic and be standard Mardave or TIC.
- No pod braces allowed
- No additional strengthening of the motor pod.
- Wishbones, Steering and king pins
- Steering arms must be standard or Ball and link type.
- Wishbones must be standard Mardave or TIC.
- No wishbone protectors/strengtheners.
- Front springs must be fitted.
- Only standard, hardened or stainless kingpins allowed.
- No adjustable kingpins.
- No strut braces.
- Bumpers
- No additional internal or external bumpers are permitted.
- Ballast
- The addition of ballast is not permitted.
- Inner wings (only for old school
meetings)
- Front wings must be cut to replicate their full size counterpart.
- They must be body mounted by way of 2 x 3mm nuts and bolts only.
- Motors
- Mardave g2
- Grapner 500 standard
- Johnson 540 with plastic end bell
- HPI Saturn 27t
- Tamiya Mabuchi 540 silver can with black end bell
- Hunter systems 27t
- Ansmann class 28t
- Heat sinks maybe used
- Use of motor cleaning fluids are allowed
- Wheels and Tyres
- Must be foam
- No tyre additives permitted
- Mardave v12, Kamtec, Contact wheels or TIC Bruno wheels are permitted
- Ball raced front wheels are not permitted.
- Shell preperation
- Must be ABS
- Windows must be cut as per markings or as close to original car as possible.
- No window gussets.
- Sun visors must be a maximum 15mm high.
- No unsightly, rude or offensive slogans or gestures on shells.
- Shells must be in line with the agreed shell list for that meeting.
- Arches must not be heated and shaped unless it is a narrow shell such as the Austin 1100.
- Minimum 3mm ground clearance.
- NO extras to be added to the shell (door bar, door plates, bonnet bolts, bonnet plates)
- No inner wings
- Body mounting
- All shells must only be mounted using 4 points.
- V10 mounts allowed
- All mounts must be non-metallic and not exceeding 10mm diameter.
- Maximum 10mm Protrusion through the shell.
- Roof fin
- All cars must have a roof fin at the start of each race.
- The roof fin must be fitted with 2 x cable ties or 2 x 3mm nuts and bolts.
- It must be plastic and no larger than the standard Kamtec fin.
- It must have the driver’s number clearly visible on both sides.
- Shell repairs
- You may use scrap abs and cable ties only.
- Any repairs must be on the inside of the shell only.
- Servo savers
- Any type of servo saver may be used.
- A servo saver saver may be used.
- Old school
We will be running old school events throughout the year. The rules are as above, with the exception of inner wings, door bar, door plates, bonnet plates, bonnet bolts may be used. Any bolts used on the shell must be 3mm diameter and when done up the bolt must be cut flush with the nut, with no sharp edges. No washers to be used. These rules are set to help protect the race carpet.
1300 stockcars
Construction rules as per banger rules with the exception of the points below.
- Gate bumpers to be used on the front and rear of the vehicle.
- Carbon and GRP chassis’ are permitted
- Bumpers must protrude beyond the shell.
- Z drive and derling spur gears are permitted.
- No ballast is permitted.
- Shells must be a representation of a full size car that was originally built by the manufacturer with a 1300cc or smaller engine. (if unsure, please ask)
- All cars must have a minimum of 3mm ground clearance.
Hotrods
- Chassis
- Any alloy or grp chassis
